Prostate Cancer Screening

It is recommended to conduct prostate cancer screening based on PSA testing for men in good health with an expected life span of more than 10 years.

High-Risk Individuals
Men with the following high-risk factors for prostate cancer should be vigilant and undergo targeted examinations when necessary, with appropriate follow-up for abnormal results.
1. Men aged >50 years.
2. Men aged >45 years with a family history of prostate cancer.
3. Men aged >40 years with a baseline PSA level >1 μg/L.
 
Screening Recommendations
1. It is recommended to conduct prostate cancer screening based on PSA testing for men in good health with an expected life span of more than 10 years. Prior to screening, a detailed explanation of the risks and benefits of prostate cancer screening should be provided.
2. Serum PSA testing should be performed every 2 years, and the decision to terminate PSA testing should be based on the patient's age and health status.
3. Prostate cancer screening based on serum PSA testing should be initiated early for individuals at high risk.
4. Population screening for men under 40 years of age is not recommended.
 
Preventive Recommendations
1. Avoid unhealthy habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
2. Reduce the intake of high-animal-fat foods, as they contain higher levels of saturated fatty acids; increase the consumption of vegetables and fruits.
3. Avoid overly spicy foods, as they can cause excessive congestion of the prostate.
4. Stay hydrated, urinate regularly, and avoid holding urine or prolonged periods of inactivity.
5. Engage in moderate physical exercise as recommended.
