Thailand Headlines, Thai News – At 10:00 a.m. on May 12, 2026, a delegation led by Wang Datong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guangzhou Development District; Lin Dongyong, Director of Huangpu District Health Bureau; Guo Fayou, Deputy Director of the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Joint Office; Ouyang Longzheng, Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Bureau of Guangzhou Development District; Chen Tuhua, Director of Sino-Singapore Cooperation Promotion Division of the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Joint Office; and Ma Lanying, Deputy Medical Director of Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, visited the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce for friendly exchanges. The delegation was warmly received by Qi Xiaoyun and Chen Jindun, Executive Vice Presidents of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce; Cai Weicai, Advisor; Dong Feng and Ma Ningjia, Vice Presidents; and Deng Yu, Secretary of the Chamber. A symposium was subsequently held.

During the meeting, Qi Xiaoyun, Executive Vice President of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, first extended a warm welcome to Deputy Secretary Wang Datong, Director Lin Dongyong and their delegation on behalf of the Chamber. He briefly introduced the Chamber’s development history, organizational structure, and its achievements in promoting Thailand-China economic, trade, cultural, and medical cooperation in recent years. Qi Xiaoyun noted that the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce is always committed to building a communication bridge between business communities of the two countries, facilitating practical bilateral cooperation, and possesses rich resources and successful experience especially in healthcare and cross-border trade.

In summary, Thailand’s core advantage in attracting Chinese investment lies in its provision of a “panoramically adapted” overseas development platform – offering not only short-term cost and policy benefits but also long-term industrial upgrading and market growth potential. Executive Vice President Qi Xiaoyun elaborated on the favorable conditions for Chinese enterprises to establish operations in Thailand from aspects such as national policies, social context, and cultural environment, and stated that the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce will spare no effort to provide landing services and support for Chinese enterprises going global to Thailand.

Deputy Secretary Wang Datong expressed gratitude for the Chamber’s warm reception and introduced the industrial advantages and business environment of Guangzhou Development District as a national-level development zone. He pointed out that Guangdong and Thailand share geographical proximity and affinity between peoples. Guangzhou Development District boasts strong strengths in biomedicine, high-end manufacturing, and international trade, while Huangpu District’s healthcare sector is continuously innovating and improving quality. He expressed the hope to engage in deep cooperation with Thailand and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in areas such as medical technology exchange, health industry investment, and the “going global” of traditional Chinese medicine, thereby empowering China-Thailand cooperation and jointly providing strategic input.
During the exchange session, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the alignment of China-Thailand medical resources, trade in medical devices and pharmaceuticals, and the international promotion of traditional Chinese medicine. Chen Jindun, Executive Vice President of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, shared insights on China-Thailand collaboration in medical devices. He pointed out that high-quality products, technology, and professional teams are critical links in the development of the healthcare industry. Chen Jindun noted that Thailand imports approximately US$3 billion worth of medical devices annually, representing huge market potential, and he looked forward to leveraging complementary strengths for joint cooperation. Mr. Cai Weicai, Advisor of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Kasikorn Bank, briefly analyzed the opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises going global to Thailand in light of Thailand’s financial environment. Vice President Dong Feng discussed legalization aspects for enterprises going global, while Vice President Ma Ningjia spoke on practical needs of enterprises such as the educational foundation, cultural environment, and cross-border trade facilitation policies between China and Thailand.

Both sides agreed that China and Thailand have strong complementarity and broad space for cooperation in healthcare and international trade. In the future, they will establish a regular communication mechanism, promote the implementation of specific projects, and jointly help deepen and solidify Sino-Thai health and economic-trade cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. After the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenirs and posed for a group photo.

This visit further enhanced mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for coordinated development in the medical and trade sectors between the two regions.
