The China-Nepal International Online Seminar on Oncology Diagnosis & Treatment Technology Successfully Held

A virtual dialogue connecting Guangzhou, China, and Kathmandu, Nepal; an academic feast focusing on the cutting edge of oncology diagnosis and treatment, jointly building a new bridge for China-Nepal medical cooperation.

On the afternoon of June 12, the “2026 International Online Seminar on Oncology Diagnosis & Treatment Technology,” co-hosted by Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital and the Nepal Nobel Health and Education Foundation, was successfully held at the hospital’s International Remote Oncology MDT Center on the 5th floor. Dozens of top oncology experts from China and Nepal crossed the Himalayas to gather in the cloud and engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge advances in oncology diagnosis and treatment, sharing of clinical experience, and joint training and research. This seminar is an important practice for Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital in promoting the “Health Silk Road” and deepening medical cooperation in South Asia.

Virtual Gathering|China-Nepal Oncology Experts Discuss the Frontiers

Mr. Yang Jinzhi, incoming CEO of Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, delivered the welcome speech. He first extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the experts, scholars, and partners attending the event. He pointed out that the development of oncology diagnosis and treatment relies on high-level technological innovation and deep academic integration. He expressed his hope for a successful event and that academic exchanges would continuously improve the level of diagnosis and treatment, benefiting cancer patients in both countries.

Mr. Nawaraj Pandey, Chairman of the Nepal Nobel Health and Education Foundation, stated that Nepal still has significant room for improvement in oncology diagnosis and treatment technologies and specialized talent cultivation. He highly anticipates practical and in-depth cooperation between the two sides in cutting-edge fields such as minimally invasive surgery, gene therapy, and multidisciplinary treatment. He emphasized that Nepal attaches great importance to exchanges and collaboration with China in the medical and health field and firmly believes that deep cooperation with China will bring valuable development opportunities for Nepal, helping its cancer prevention and treatment efforts reach a new level.

Academic Feast|In-depth Interpretation of the Multidisciplinary Cancer Treatment System

Prof. Li Dinggang, Chief International Medical Consultant of Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Introduction to the Multidisciplinary Cancer Treatment System.” He systematically introduced the hospital’s JCIaccredited multidisciplinary team (MDT) system, as well as its clinical experience in cutting-edge technologies such as Y90 microsphere therapy, proton radiotherapy, nanoknife ablation, and gene therapy.

Prof. Li pointed out that cancer treatment has moved from a single modality to an era of multidisciplinary, individualized, and fullcycle comprehensive treatment. Royal Lee Hospital has accumulated rich experience in this field and is willing to share it unreservedly with Nepalese colleagues. During the subsequent Q&A session, the two sides had in-depth discussions on topics such as indications for minimally invasive techniques, the prospects of gene therapy, and the normalization of remote MDT.

Ms. Ma Lanying, Vice President of Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, stated that the hospital attaches great importance to future cooperation with Nepalese medical colleagues and remains committed to promoting the high-quality development of medical services on both sides. Today, numerous medical experts from both sides have gathered online to engage in in-depth exchanges on oncology diagnosis and treatment technologies, which is of profound significance in bringing Chinese medical wisdom to more overseas patients.

Joint Construction and Sharing|China-Nepal Medical Cooperation Moves to Deeper Levels

Dr. Ashok, CEO of Frontline Hospital, Nepal, spoke highly of the outcomes of this seminar. He noted that Nepal has relatively scarce oncology diagnosis and treatment resources, and this exchange has opened a window for Nepalese colleagues to understand international cutting-edge technologies. He hopes that the two sides will establish a longterm cooperation mechanism and promote practical collaboration in specialized physician training, remote consultation, patient referral, and joint research.

The Nepalese delegation was impressively strong, comprising dozens of academic leaders from top medical institutions such as Bir Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, and Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, fully demonstrating the high importance Nepal attaches to this cooperation.

The two sides have reached preliminary consensus on cooperation directions including establishing a China-Nepal crossborder remote consultation platform, launching shortterm training programs for oncology specialists, and exploring a green channel for international patient referral. In the future, Royal Lee Hospital will regularly hold China-Nepal oncology academic exchange meetings and invite Nepalese doctors to come for further training and study.

From Guangzhou to Kathmandu, the straightline distance is about 3,000 kilometers, with the Himalayas lying in between. Today, an invisible “Health Silk Road” has been built: through internet technology, Chinese and Nepalese oncology experts have shaken hands in the cloud; through academic exchanges, China’s advanced oncology concepts have crossed mountains and seas to reach our friends in South Asia.
