This is a laser-induced photochemical reaction. A photosensitizer is intravenously injected 2 days before treatment, with cancer tissues selectively absorbing the photosensitizer while normal tissues absorbing very little. When the cancer is irradiated with specific laser light, cancer cells are destroyed and killed.
