Treating Advanced Liver Cancer with Interventional Embolization + Controlled-release Chemotherapy

This is a case of advanced liver cancer that was difficult to surgically remove and had a high risk of liver rupture, posing a life-threatening situation. Professor Wang Fangjun's team used interventional techniques to insert fine catheters into the feeding arteries of the liver cancer. They blocked the tumor's blood supply by using embolic agents, causing the tumor to become ischemic and necrotic, eventually being absorbed by the body. Moreover, by blocking the blood vessels, the risk of rupture and bleeding was avoided. In addition to embolization, controlled-release chemotherapy drugs were administered, enhancing the tumor's destruction and significantly reducing the systemic side effects of chemotherapy. During the follow-up, it was observed that the tumor had completely necrotized, and the patient's symptoms had noticeably improved.

Why is interventional embolization therapy highly effective for liver cancer? This liver cancer patient, who sought treatment from our renowned Professor Wang Fangjun, has just undergone minimally invasive embolization therapy. As can be seen, the tumor's blood vessels have been completely blocked, cutting off the tumor's source of nutrients, starving the tumor. The embolic agents also contain a suitable amount of chemotherapy drugs, ensuring that even if some tumor cells are not completely starved to death, they will be "poisoned" by the high-concentration chemotherapy drugs present around the tumor cells. The surgery was highly successful, and we wish him a speedy recovery!
