Director and Academic Head of the Department of Oncology Nutrition and Metabolic Therapy at the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Senior Visiting Scholar in Clinical Oncology at Ulm University, Germany.

 

Founder of the first clinical team in China dedicated to oncology nutrition and metabolism. He established a quality management system that integrates medical oncology and clinical nutrition, creating a specialized clinical framework to serve cancer patients suffering from malnutrition. This led to the development of a new subspecialty within medical oncology—oncology nutrition and metabolism medicine.

 

He founded the discipline of Clinical Oncology at Southeast University, a key university under China’s Ministry of Education (part of the 985 Project), and established the Clinical Oncology Center at its affiliated Zhongda Hospital. He serves as a council member of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), Vice Chairman of the Oncology Nutrition Management Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society, and a committee member of the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. He is also Chairman of the Anhui Provincial Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and Chairman of the Oncology Rehabilitation Committee of the Anhui Health Industry Promotion Association.

 

He has published nearly 300 academic papers and participated in or led the development of clinical guidelines in the field of tumor nutrition and metabolism. He serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Tumor Metabolism and Nutrition, and as an editorial board member of several journals including World Chinese Journal of Digestion, Oncology, Chinese Journal of Surgical Oncology, Chinese Journal of Clinical Healthcare, Practical Cancer, and Chinese Journal of Clinical Medicine.

With 35 years of experience in clinical, educational, and research work in medical oncology (specializing in metabolism and nutrition), he has worked exclusively in oncology departments affiliated with top-tier universities under China’s 985 and 211 Projects. He was among the first to creatively apply clinical nutrition techniques in oncology practice, focusing on anticancer drug therapy for malnourished cancer patients. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of malnourished cancer patients, including anticancer drug therapy, cancer-related intestinal obstruction, cancer cachexia, and bone metastasis-related cancer pain.
