Royal Lee Builds a New Landscape for an Americas Oncology Medical Consortium

On September 24, Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital took another important step in its internationalization. YEO KIM SECK, CEO of the hospital, signed agreements respectively with Dr. Marcelo Lam and Dr. Carlos Carrasquillo—representatives of the Miami Integrative Medicine Institute and integrative oncology experts from the Americas—and with Dr. Lorena Zavala, representative of the Michoacan University School of Medicine,NUM Bio CELL (UMSNH). The former marks the official launch of the Americas International "Multidisciplinary Tumor Treatment" Alliance, while the latter opens in-depth cooperation between Chinese and Mexican academic institutions—Royal Lee's cross-border medical cooperation is moving from single-point breakthroughs to a new systematic stage of "building overseas regions and forming a strategic layout." Professor Li Dinggang, Chief International Medical Advisor of Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, attended to witness the signing.

Forming a Latin American International "Oncology Multidisciplinary Treatment" Alliance

This MOU was signed by Royal Lee and the Miami Integrative Medicine Institute. The Institute has led the formation of a regional international oncology medical cooperation alliance by bringing together legally registered oncology medical institutions, physician teams, medical experts, and medical professional organizations from 28 countries in the Americas. Under the MOU, the two sides will carry out all-round cooperation in areas such as oncology care, cross-border referrals, academic exchange, and medical education. This means that a collaborative network spanning multiple Latin American countries has been established, providing stable and institutionalized channels for cross-border patient referrals, international MDT consultations, and medical talent exchanges; Latin American patients will also have convenient access to China's rich experience in cutting-edge therapies such as innovative drug applications, cryoablation, gene therapy, and proton radiotherapy.

Launching Inter-Institutional Cooperation with the UMSNH Faculty of Medicine, Mexico

This MOU was signed by Royal Lee and the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), Mexico. UMSNH is located in Morelia, the capital of Michoacán, Mexico, and is one of Mexico's most representative public institutions of higher learning. Morelia, a historic city inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, has a profound cultural heritage; its medical school has a history of more than 300 years and is considered one of the oldest medical schools in Latin America.

The core of the cooperation is deep collaboration around the "Integrative Oncology Specialist Physician Program" offered by the UMSNH Faculty of Medicine, covering mutual visits between faculty and trainees, academic exchanges, clinical observation, and joint seminars on the program. Both sides agreed to build a standardized, sustainable, and compliant China-Mexico inter-institutional strategic cooperation system in oncology, and to promote the implementation and rooting of cooperation in oncology medical education, integrative oncology clinical practice, joint research, faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and international academic brand building.

It is worth noting that the seeds of this cooperation were planted a year ago. In June last year, Professor Li Dinggang personally traveled to Morelia, Mexico, for an investigative visit, and together with the dean of the UMSNH Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Lorena Zavala, planted the seeds of cooperation. A year later, the first delegation from the Americas organized by the Mexican side traveled across the ocean to China, and the two sides successfully signed this inter-institutional cooperation MOU—a natural and timely outcome.

This is a new initiative in the field of oncology medical cooperation in the Americas. We hope that through medical cooperation, we can tell China's story well and also enable China's experience in oncology diagnosis and treatment to generate shared value through trans-Pacific collaboration. As a core institution of the international medical and healthcare base in the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital has always upheld the concepts of openness, cooperation, and sharing, and continues to expand its international medical cooperation footprint. From Southeast Asia to Central Asia, and from South Asia to Latin America, a global cooperation network is taking shape at an accelerated pace. Looking ahead, Royal Lee will continue to take JCI international accreditation as its foundation, MDT as its core, and integrative medicine as its distinctive feature, connecting global high-quality medical resources, promoting Chinese oncology diagnosis and treatment technologies, services, and standards to the world, and contributing "Royal Lee strength" to building a Global Community of Health for All.

Crossing the Pacific, advancing together in medicine. Royal Lee is embracing the world with a higher vision.
