Transvascular Intervention Treatment

Catheters will be inserted into the tumor vessels with the assistance of X-ray fluoroscopy and digital subtraction to inject chemotherapeutic drugs into the tumor and block the outlet of the tumor vessels. That is how transvascular intervention works. It is one of the characteristic techniques carried out in Minimally Invasive Intervention Department of Guangzhou Royallee Cancer Center. This technique applies to tumors that cannot be removed by surgery and also can be used to shrink the tumor by instilling anti-cancer drugs to facilitate surgical removal. More importantly, it helps prevent post-operative tumor recurrence by intra-arterial instillation chemotherapy.

Characteristics of Transvascular Intervention Treatment
First, the treatment instills perfused drugs of high concentration, which serves to kill a large number of tumor cells and reduce the systemic adverse effects, making it an irreplaceable component in anti-cancer treatment. Second, it highlights a vascular embolization effect. The blocked tumor vessels cut off the supply to tumor thus tumor tissues will degenerate and necrotize soon. In summary, transvascular intervention treatment works well for local tumors as well as systemic tumors, because the locally perfused drugs also takes effect in the latter situation.

Competitiveness of Transvascular Intervention Treatment
In contrast with conventional open surgery and radiotherapy, transvascular intervention treatment is highly competitive by virtue of: 1) tiny trauma and less pain; 2) accurate positioning; 3) desirable and visible outcome; 4) smaller systemic toxic side effects; 5) fast recovery and shorter hospital stay.

The Minimally Invasive Treatment Center of Guangzhou Royallee Cancer Center is equipped with German Siemens medical angiography X-ray machine with a premium quality in data acquisition speed and image process. Intervention treatment thus is featured with small trauma, high safety, less pain and fast recovery because it is monitored by this sophisticated machine.

Indications for Transvascular Intervention Treatment
