A Vow of Guardianship, A Tribute to Every Healer at Royal Lee

On August 19, Chinas DoctorsDay coincided with the Qixi Festival the Chinese Valentines Day.

Qixi speaks of love in the mortal world; DoctorsDay honors the guardians of life. One is the romance amid everyday life; the other is the steadfastness at the post. At Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital, this day was woven with flowers, banners, laughter, and warmth crafting a unique kind of romance that belongs solely to healers.

Warm Visits: Flowers and Cakes in Tribute to Those on the Front Line

On the morning of the holiday, the hospitals leadership team visited all clinical and medical technology departments to extend their greetings to every physician on duty. At each stop, the leaders presented flowers and festive cakes as tokens of respect, offering sincere holiday wishes to the medical workers who remain dedicated at the frontline. They inquired in detail about the doctorsdaily work, fully affirmed their hard work in oncology diagnosis and treatment, patient care, and disciplinary development, and expressed gratitude for their professionalism and sense of duty in safeguarding patientslives. The leaders also reminded everyone to take care of their own physical and mental well-being while fulfilling their responsibilities.

A bouquet conveys care; a slice of cake shares joy. In the busy clinics and wards, warmth filled the air, and every greeting carried the hospital familys most heartfelt blessings.

Banners of Gratitude: PatientsMost Heartfelt Tribute on DoctorsDay

The emotion of DoctorsDay was further deepened by recognition from patients. On that very day, several patients and their families came to the hospital specifically to present banners of gratitude to their physicians.

A single banner, with just a few words, carries the trust, understanding, and appreciation forged throughout the treatment journey. For healers, affirmation from patients is the most precious gift of all. The mutual trust and two-way devotion between doctors and patients represent the warmest essence of medicine.

Beyond the White Coat: A Team-Building Getaway to Unwind

While they stand firm at their posts to save lives during work hours, they also know how to take off their white coats and enjoy leisure time after work. To care for the medical team and relieve the pressures of clinical practice, the hospital organized an off-duty barbecue gathering for the physicians.

Setting aside medical records, outpatient duties, and ward rounds for a while, everyone sat together, chatting about work and daily life. Laughter eased the usual fatigue. Amid the smoky warmth of the grill, collegial bonds were strengthened, and team cohesion was enhanced. The hospital hopes that every healer, while safeguarding the health of others, can also embrace life fully and experience their own moments of relaxation and joy.

A Love Letterto Doctors

This is a confession written to the guardians of life.

This is not sweet talk between lovers, but a tribute to healers in white.

For others, Qixi means roses and dates;

For you, it means ward rounds, consultations, and treatment evaluations.

The white coat is your armor; the clinic and ward are your battlefield.

You have witnessed pain, heard sighs, and also seen countless acts of perseverance and hope.

You dedicate most of your time to patients,

Offering your gentleness to lives you never knew before.

The romance of healers lies not in moonlit rendezvous,

But in the steadfast guardianship, day after day.

Thank you for meeting your mission with compassion, and for protecting lives with your skill.

Happy DoctorsDay to all physicians. May all go well with you, always.
