Riding the 15th Five-Year Plan Development Trend, Royal Lee Exports High-Quality Chinese Oncology Medical Services Worldwide for Global Patients

Kicking off the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the hospital seizes opening-up opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, the "Setting Sail for the 15th Five-Year Plan: China’s Development and Global Opportunities (Guangdong Tour) Guangzhou Special Promotion Forum" grandly convened envoys of multiple countries stationed in China as well as overseas enterprise and government delegates. It marks a landmark foreign affairs event for Guangzhou to expand opening-up and advance the international layout of cross-border industries. Selected and recommended by the government, Guangzhou Royal Lee Cancer Hospital was invited as a representative regional oncology institution to attend the event. Based on the new landscape of China’s healthcare development, the hospital held in-person in-depth talks with diplomatic envoys to explore new routes for international medical cooperation.

Leveraging Official Top-Tier Platforms to Witness the Rising Tide of Internationalization in China’s Healthcare Sector

The 15th Five-Year Plan continues to prioritize the internationalization of healthcare. China’s medical industry is steadily advancing towards a new stage of high-quality development, spanning technological innovation, specialty development, and cross-border services. High-quality domestic diagnostic and treatment technologies and standardized clinical protocols are gradually gaining global recognition. Cross-border medical services and international health and wellness have become key priorities for cities’ opening-up strategies.

This special diplomatic exchange, organized by the government, served as a premier bridge for international collaboration. Aligned with Guangzhou’s international development strategy, envoys from various countries engaged in pragmatic discussions on global healthcare supply and demand, the upgrading trends of China’s medical and health industry, and the challenges of cross-border medical implementation. Through multi-party dialogues involving government, enterprises, and foreign affairs officials, a clear direction has emerged: high-quality local medical services are going global, while international patients are being attracted to China.

Thanks to the Guangzhou municipal government’s support for foreign trade and the medical industry, our hospital was invited as a representative in the oncology field at this conference. This provided us with direct access to foreign affairs resources and a clear understanding of the urgent healthcare needs and collaboration demands of countries worldwide.

Upholding the Mission of Internationalization and Advancing the Cause of Chinese Medical Services Going Global

Vice President Ma Lanying represented our hospital in the exchange session. Aligned with the national direction of medical internationalization, she introduced the cutting-edge achievements in domestic oncology diagnosis and treatment and the current state of industry development to the diplomatic envoys. She also highlighted Guangzhou’s advantages in facilitating the cross-border medical industry.

Vice President Ma Lanying engaged in communication and exchanges with diplomatic envoys from various countries.

Since its establishment, Royal Lee has remained committed to its founding mission: rooted in local expertise, aligned with international standards, and dedicated to exporting high-quality Chinese medical services. With years of deep focus on oncology, leveraging China’s mature multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach, precision minimally invasive techniques, and personalized comprehensive treatment advantages, and capitalizing on Guangzhou’s unique geographic, policy, and foreign affairs resources, the hospital is dedicated to bringing China’s mature and cost-effective oncology medical resources to patients worldwide.

Through in-depth exchanges with the diplomatic envoys, a broad consensus was reached: leveraging official foreign affairs channels to break down barriers in cross-border medical cooperation is key to achieving two-way medical collaboration between China and other countries. This consensus also lays a solid foundation for our hospital to implement a global service network.

Refining a Full-Process Closed-Loop Service System to Build a One-Stop International Medical Ecosystem

Taking this foreign affairs exchange as a new starting point, our hospital will seize the policy dividends of the 15th Five-Year Plan for the medical industry, closely follow the government’s opening-up agenda, and continuously improve our full-chain closed-loop service system: remote pre-consultation → visa and medical assistance → in-hospital specialty diagnosis and treatment → post-operative rehabilitation and recovery → cross-border home follow-up.

From initial overseas consultation to full-process support upon arrival in Guangzhou, and long-term health follow-up after patients return to their home countries, our standardized end-to-end services effectively address the pain points of international patients, such as complex cross-border medical procedures and lack of post-treatment care. In the future, the hospital will continue to leverage government-established international exchange platforms to expand its global collaboration footprint, partnering with medical institutions and foreign affairs agencies worldwide to deepen referrals, technical exchanges, and academic cooperation.

Riding the momentum of the 15th Five-Year Plan and Guangzhou’s opening-up, and empowered by the government’s foreign affairs efforts, Royal Lee will remain steadfast in its original medical mission, deeply cultivating the field of international oncology. With solid Chinese medical technology as our foundation and a full-chain closed-loop service as our driver, we will continue to open channels for Chinese medical services to go global. We aim to bring high-quality Chinese diagnostic and treatment services to more overseas patients, support Guangzhou in becoming a benchmark city for cross-border medical opening-up in the Greater Bay Area, and contribute local specialty expertise to the high-quality international development of China’s healthcare industry.
