Treating Mucinous Liposarcoma of the Right Thigh with Excision of Mucinous Liposarcoma in the Right Thigh + Excision of Gluteus Medius Muscle Tumor

Under the successful guidance of our hospital's Director Liu Haiying, a large tumor on the outer side of the right thigh was removed from a patient. The patient is recovering well after the surgery.

Mr. J, a 48-year-old patient with a history of hypertension and diabetes, underwent a right-sided thigh tumor excision at another hospital two years ago. Post-surgery, he was diagnosed with mucinous liposarcoma of the right thigh. However, he still felt the presence of a tumor, which had recently significantly increased in size, causing limited lower limb mobility and severely affecting his daily life and work.

To further clarify the diagnosis and treatment, Mr. J sought our hospital's assistance on October 14th. After completing relevant examinations upon admission, it was determined that the surgical excision range was extensive, and there were multiple factors affecting the prognosis. To achieve the best treatment outcome, a multidisciplinary team of experts at our hospital discussed and decided to perform Excision of Mucinous Liposarcoma in the Right Thigh and Excision of Gluteus Medius Muscle Tumoron October 19th.

Intraoperative exploration revealed a large and numerous tumor with wide dispersion and suspicious "satellite foci" in the vicinity. To reduce the risk of recurrence, these were excised together. During the surgery, considerations included minimizing intraoperative bleeding, preventing postoperative wound infection, and managing the possibility of necrosis. This required avoiding excessive tension during surgery and the risk of wound dehiscence post-surgery, presenting a significant challenge for the surgical team.

Director Liu Haiying, leveraging extensive clinical experience and exceptional surgical skills, successfully achieved complete tumor excision while effectively preserving blood vessels, nerves, and surrounding tissues. The intraoperative bleeding was minimal, significantly enhancing the safety and precision of the surgery.

Under the leadership of Director Liu Haiying, the expert team, through thorough preoperative preparations, professional intraoperative procedures, and meticulous postoperative care, not only removed the massive tumor but also ensured the preservation of limb function. They strictly adhered to the principles of sterility and tumor-free margins, avoiding postoperative wound dehiscence, infection, and necrosis. This reflects our hospital's commitment to a patient-centered approach, and we remain dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services.
